Cycling and E-biking in South Tyrol

On two wheels in the Eisacktal and Pustertal valleys

The valley trails offer a relaxed way to discover the region. The Pustertal valley cycle path connects the South Tyrolean and the East Tyrolean Pustertal valleys, and you can cycle between towns and villages as far as Lienz in East Tyrol. In the other direction, the bike route leads to Brixen, and from there via Route 99 to the Brenner Pass or in a southerly direction towards Bozen and/or Lake Garda. Mountain biking in South Tyrol is a real experience!

10 cycling tips:

Match your speed to your skills and the traffic conditions. Brake in good time.
Alcohol is strictly taboo when cycling.
Hiking trails and pavements are reserved for pedestrians. Do not take risky shortcuts, and when in doubt opt for the longer, safer route.
Check your bicycle regularly and have a specialist take a look. Functioning brakes, lights, frame, tyres and guards are essential for your safety.
When cycling wear appropriate and comfortable clothing. This also includes a helmet and sun glasses.
A bicycle is a vehicle. In the saddle you should act as carefully as you would behind a steering wheel and respect all (warning) signs.
Whether you are riding a bike or an E-bike, use cycle trails wherever possible. This allows you to avoid many risks and ride in a more relaxed manner.
Consider the weather and visibility conditions. In twilight and in fog you should turn on your lights.
Take a break when you need to make a phone call or send a text. This also applies to eating or drinking.
Anticipate errors by other cyclists. Don’t overtake others in narrow places or where visibility is restricted. Always keep to the right, allowing others to overtake you.
